Secretary
My name is Xi Ran Chen and I am excited to take on the role of Secretary for the upcoming mandate of 2025-2026.
I am a YCPA candidate working as a Senior Accountant in audit at KPMG Montreal. I graduated with a bachelor in Joint Honours Economics and Accounting from McGill University.
As the secretary of YCPA, I have both internal and external goals I would like to achieve for this mandate. Internally, I would like to build and reinforce the connections between the board members to build lasting relationships. Externally, I aim to increase the visibility of this organization to the future young professionals while continuing to give back to my community.
Throughout my various involvements as Club President and VP finance for school organizations and clubs, I have observed a positive correlation between harmonious internal committee members and successful events. Being the liaison between the members is crucial for a team to move in the same direction. Having always been on the event planning and budgeting side of the team, I would like to challenge myself and develop the skills to bring everyone together by building strong bonds between the board members during this mandate.
My involvement with YCPA began in 2021. I started out as a member of the magazine committee, later on helping with the tax clinic and participating on the board of the Orchid Ball. For the past 2 years, I was in charge of recruiting and training the volunteers for the Orchid Ball. I have met many incredible people through these experiences and I truly believe in YCPA’s ability to create connections and build character at every level of involvement. I have noticed that many students find it difficult to stay involved in the community after graduation unless they actively seek out opportunities. I believe YCPA provides an ideal platform for future young professionals to thrive, and I am committed to increasing the visibility of our organization among the next generation.
Lastly, as an auditor, I have developed strong communication and analytical skills, which I look forward to applying within YCPA to better support my fellow board members and advance the initiatives I have in mind. I am also excited to meet and connect with everyone at future events!
